Obituary of Michael Walter Vandevort

Michael Walter Vandevort passed into the arms of his Lord August 24, 2015. He was born in the state of Washington at a naval hospital on Woodby Island to parents Charles and Joyce Vandevort. Michael lived in Washington until he was about 8, moved to Oklahoma for about a year and then to California where he completed most of his schooling. He moved back to Oklahoma 5 years ago. Michael worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He loved TV quiz shows and always had the answer before the contestants. He enjoyed going to Keith’s and playing ball, teaching gun safety and having target practice with the kids. For the last many years he has brought his mother coffee every morning. They enjoyed drinking their coffee on the patio together. Michael enjoyed teasing and joking. He had an ornery sense of humor. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents; and brother Robert Vandevort. He is survived by his daughter Melissa Marie Vandevort mother Joyce Vandevort; his father Charles Vandevort; brother David Vandevort; lady friend Karen Sweeney; a special cousin Keith Lunsford; uncles Al Austin; and Bobby Joe Taylor; nieces Christine, Courtney and Cassie Vandevort; Ashley Ingram; as well as cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 28, 2015 at Green Hill Funeral Home.
