Obituary of THELMA L. HARP

Thelma Louise Harp was born January 9, 1937 in Tulsa, OK to parents Jess and Hattie Mae Lane. The angels took her to heaven on December 5, 2014. She was raised in Jenks and graduated from Jenks High School. She moved to Mounds in the early ‘80s and lived there until she moved into Parks Edge Nursing Home 10 years ago. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. She is survived by 2 daughters, Ilene Spence and husband Jimmy Session; and Rhonda Harp; 2 brothers, J.W. Lane and wife Sandy; and Gene Lane; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Thelma was a good Christian woman. She loved the Lord, lived her life for the Lord and raised her children to do the same. Thelma was grateful in any situation and tried to see her purpose wherever she was. When she went to the nursing home she said there were people there who needed her. She was always available to staff, residents and visitors if someone wanted to pray or just to talk with her. She loved singing and she and her sister traveled to local churches when they were young and sang as the “Lane Sisters.” Until her arthritis made it too difficult to crochet Thelma was often making pillows, afghans, bed spreads or doll dresses. She would crochet little dolls with dresses to cover air fresheners. She gave many people in her life the special gifts she made. Thelma’s family will greatly miss her in their lives. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is Monday from 11 am until 9 pm.
